About this talk: This presentation will explain the specific mental processes that underlie reading, spelling, comprehension and critical thinking, and how these processes relate to learning difficulties. Information on the Dual Coding Theory, which illustrates the importance of developing the imagery-language connection necessary for accurate reading and comprehension, will be presented.
About the speaker: Allison Katos has over 18 years of experience in the field of education. In 2002, she began working at Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes as the Centre Director in San Diego. Her career at Lindamood-Bell over the last seven years has also taken her to Chicago and now to London where she is currently the Centre Director. Previous to her time at Lindamood-Bell, she was a primary school classroom teacher for six years. She holds a teaching degree from Virginia Tech and a Masters Degree from the School of Education at the University of San Diego.
