That is amazing! I am very happy for you and your son!!!
After spending a good amount of time today outside trying to teach my dyspraxic 8 yr old son how to pedal with training wheels and becoming VERY frustrated. This gives me so much hope! Thank you!

Hi,
First post however wanted to give hope to parents of dyspraxic children.
My eldest son (now 9) was diagnosed with Dyspraxia when about 5, and also touches other elements of the spectrum - as it seems most sufferers do. Most classic symptoms have been shown over the years, loudness, obsessions etc. We are lucky however as he is relatively high functioning so is deemed academically bright at school, and the school is very good in supporting his needs so provide wobble cushions, slope boards etc, and also provide extra time for him to finish work.
The good news however is that due to his gngerally poor coordination he has never been sporty, but earlier this month he has been promoted in his swimming class, and this weekend although never wanting to cycle in the past (even with stabilisers) he decided he wanted to learn to ride without. The progression was amazing - he rode on Friday with me running alongside holding his seat, then letting go for a couple of seconds. By yesterday he was pushing off himself and riding 1/4 mile laps of our local park. Just seeing the confidence this has given him brought a lump to the throat. To be honest it was a day I never thought I would see - we had just accepted he wasn't going to ride a bike.
To other parents, don't give up - the child will let you know when they are ready.
