Hi our son went to a great primary and we were concerned when he went to secondary school. First we made a point of trying to identify other children with sen so that our son could see he was just like others. We asked our son what advice he would give your son. He said ''go with the flow'' there are lots of children who have different needs. He said he owned his dyspraxia he told people upfront that he had problems with handwriting and sport. He said he told them so that they knew what to expect and this took away some of the pressure to be a ''sporty boy''. We gave the school 3 weeks to get to know our son when he started and then made a point of regularly reminding school of his needs by writing to each of his subject leads. Just so that we knew they knew that our son might need a bit of support now and then. When we had problem
with the school providing a laptop - they kept fobbing us off we got our son's physio to write to them. You would be surprised what a 'professional' can do to move things on that you can't sometimes.

My son has attended a brilliant Junior School in Cornwall called Roselyon. We are trying to manage the transition from Junior School to senior and he is becoming very upset about being different. Has anyone used good techniques to help their son through this
