Currently going through the admission process at Bruern Abbey and would say that the impression is that the focus is not just on the acaedmics but also social skills and self esteem which for a child who may feel a failure in a pushy school whether prep or state because even though they are intelligent are belittled because they do not read as well as others is an important consideration. Would say that the sports facilities at Bruern not same as larger school but classes of 10 boys and two teachers make up for that.

Concerned Parent
We have a 10 year old son who is mildly dyslexic but currently in quite a pushy prep school where he can not keep up with the demands of written work and exams. He is starting to dislike anything except the sporting life of the school (which is excellent) and feels stupid. We wonder whether weekly boarding at Bruern Abbey might be a bit of an extreme change given he is only mildly dyslexic? He does not need Common Entrance to get into his next school. Any comments or experiences with Bruern Abbey welcome please. Fairley House is another option. Thank you!
