I have just learnt that my son has received a statement. He has immature gross and fine motor, issues periporecetion, language difficulties etc.ED Psych said Dyspraxia but has other issues hence no one diagnosis.
Found the comments very distressing. Is the person an expert? When a child is born with a disability you ask what have I done wrong? Family members may somehow blame you.You go to a very low place without silly comments like that.I even saw a priest. There was some suggestion of exposure to the otherwise harmless CMV virus in my sons case. I had my child when I was 38.People who are older lose their protection against this common virus and their second child is exposed to it in the womb in nurseries, playgrounds etc.
