Hello, I'm looking for help/advice for my son who is 6 with dispraxia. He seems to have some of the learning disability symptoms, i.e. he forgets what he has learnt from moment to moment, he lacks focus in the classroom, he has trouble reading, etc...I'd like to help him but there is very little understanding or support in my area. Can someone point me to a book or strategies that you've used to help a young learner? I've heard people talk about ''organization'' strategies, using dyslexic tools for dyspraxia readers (what are they? how do you get them?), etc...I just want to understand what is going on in my little guys head so that I can help him. Also, does anyone know of a Canadian forum or support group for families with Dyspraxia? Thanks so much!! Lisa in Toronto area.

Hi Lisa - you could try ''100 ideas for Supporting Puils with Dysraxia and DCD'' by Amanda Kirby. It's available on Amazon. She has written other books as well. There are some parents' support groups on Facebook. ''Dyspraxia awareness'' has mainly UK people on it, but some members are from Canada and the USA as well. It's parents sharing ideas and asking for/giving advice. A Canadian lady started a group called ''Dealing with dyspraxia'' on facebook, but I don't think it really got off the ground. Good luck.
