Hi.My daughter is 11 and Dyslexic and attends Independent School as a last resort as she has been grossly neglected in State school.I pay 80 pound a week for extra ''multi-sensory'' tuition at the school but all i can see happening in these lessons are the words being broken down phonically and repeated and repeated.I already know my daughter does not learn in this way,she cannot learn phonically.I cannot see a multi sensory approach! I have questioned the school about this but just seem to get fobbed-off.I have tried to glean information out of an Education Psychologist as to whether these extra lessons are of any value. Please can anybody shine some light on this?I know Dyslexics require a multi-sensory approach, but what tools should i expect to see coming out of the multi-sensory bag?Surely experimenting with action/touch,sound,even smell? How can i make the decision as to whether the lessons are of any use?The school seem to want to press gang me into accepting the lessons as a compulsory prerequisite to attending the school.
