Kate,
If, instead of reading aloud, you could summarize what you read in your own words would you feel more comfortable?
You say sometimes you do not understand when people speak to you. Does it help if you can repeat what they said in your own words?

im 19 and always had a problem with learning at school since i was young, being in the bottom sets and being very afraid to read out loud. ive always been a shy person but that never stopped me being popular with friends. my down fall has always been the academic side, i have deffinatley always been motivated and been a strong member of sport and art. i find myself having to ask people to repeat themselves as i get confused with what theyre saying. i can read alright, occasionally get words muddled up and end up staring at the page and taking nothing in. i'd like to know if this in any relation to dyslexia..

Hi Sergi,
Dyslexia need not be a hindrance to starting a business. There are plenty of examples of very successful entrepreneurs who are dyslexic. Sir Richard Branson is perhaps the best known dyslexic. Others include Theo Paphitis and Anita Roddick. There are loads more...
I recommend reading this article http://www.cass.city.ac.uk/media/stories/Dyslexia.html
It describes some research from 2004 that points out ''that entrepreneurs are five times more likely to suffer from dyslexia then your average UK citizen''.
