Sorry if I am posting on the wrong type ogf site but I am confused about my 8 yr old son. He is mildly aspergers and is quite bright but his spellings and writing are awful. He can however, get his spelling right in his spelling tests but the minute he goes to use the same wotd in his writing he gets it wrong again. He hates using computers and is writing less and less due to confidence. Not sure if he's dyslexic, am thinking not as he can spell the words in the tests. He is alse a reasonable reader. But if not dyslexia then what? Anybody have any advise?
Many thanks

Your son is typical of most of the students I work with. You are very lucky he is a good reader. Providing a tool for writing paragraphs will help build his confidence. Ask your son to give you 3 or 4 facts about the topic he is working on. Then give him this very simple formula: an introductory sentence, the 3 or 4 fact-based sentences, and a concluding sentence that refers back to the introductory sentence. He organizes his facts in a logical order and then after writing a introductory sentence, he writes one sentence for each fact and ends with a concluding sentence.
Linda.
