I've recently found the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) online lecture series - all for free.
Ken Robinson, well known for his thoughts on education, had some very interesting things to say about Attention Deficit/Surplus, based on a map of Ritalin usage in the States that showed California as the State with the LEAST Ritalin usage. ''Californians'', he said, ''have the shortest attention span in the whole country'' - so there must be something else at play.
Have a look at his argument here: http://www.thersa.org/events/vision/vision-videos/sir-ken-ro...
What he argues is that, rather than suppressing/anaesthetizing children's imagination and perception, we should be competing with the extraordinary array of attention-grabbers on offer. It should help us raise our game.
He also links the point to Climate Change: a problem so severe it requires lateral and original thinking - not encouraged in our schools today.
Thoughts anyone?

de Bono's Thinking Hats: What are Edward de Bono's six thinking hats? Kim Wells describes what de Bono's thinking hats are and how they can be used as a learning and thinking strategy.
ADHD & Dyslexia Treatment: The Use of Fish Oils: Professor John Stein describes why fish oils are important for the wellbeing of children. He considers the use of supplements and how they can help dyslexics and those with attention problems.
